Normally, when you delete files that are moved to the trash, so that they continue to occupy space on the hard drive until you empty. Shift + Delete does not delete files correctly, so that the space immediately released (of course not be restored later if) you change your mind.

If you clear the entire room, go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup. These empty the Recycle Bin and also provides a large amount of temporary files in Internet Explorer and other programs that accumulate over time.

Note that from a perspective of security, so that even a non-Shift Delete permanently delete data, or empty the trash. The data is still on the hard drive, Windows, only the bits to indicate that certain data is no longer valid. The data is deleted, effectively overrides the next time this part of the disk, but there is no practical way to know when this happens. Although the data are replaced residual magnetic traces that will remain areback, which can be used to reconstruct the original data. To delete an adequate framework and should be a special software that identifies the unused parts of the disk to write and run multiple passes over the data, make sure to buy is truly gone forever.
